But I …
But I will call on God, and the Lord will rescue me. Ps 55:16
One day I invited one of my friends, a very busy man, to a special occasion in my home. His response was, 'thank you very much for the invitation; but I … … '. What he said after that changed the whole situation! David's 'but I' in the verse above makes him stand out from the others because of his connection with the Creator of the universe.
I am no more the same person since when I was accepted into His family (2 Cor 5:17). Once I was dead, now I am alive; was lost, but found; was blind, but now I see! (Lk 15:24)
God knew me even before I was formed (Jer 1:4-5). He created me in a miraculous manner (Ps 139:13-14). I'm specially chosen and belong to God (1 Pet 2:9).
What would you add to fill in for yourself after 'but I … ...' regarding your relationship with your Creator?
Your 'but I …' defines most of your identity before others.
Prayer: Lord, please help me to understand, at least to some extent, the value of who I am because of you. Amen
Amen
