Lord our shield

B. A. Manakala

Don’t kill them, for my people soon forget such lessons; stagger them with your power, and bring them to their knees, O Lord our shield. Ps 59:11 (nlt)

When King Nebuchadnezzar threw Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego into the fiery furnace God himself appeared as their shield that they were unharmed (Dan 3:24-25).

Here David is addressing God as 'O Lord our shield'. Remember, David once tried to wear a human armour that was offered by king Saul to fight against Goliath. God himself was David's shield; and Goliath's shield did not work!

Who else can be the shield against a giant like Goliath? Inside fire, inside the Lions' den, in the flood, in the jail, in the stormy weather?

But, do not think God has stopped shielding when you go through difficult times in life. His sovereign purposes are still good for you.

Have you experienced God as your shield? How would you make Him your permanent shield?

Only God Himself can shield you without any harm, from all kinds of enemies!

Prayer: Lord, let me have You always as my shield. Amen
