Sing to God
Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth. Sing praises to the Lord. (Ps 68:32 nlt)
Once I attended a church. As usual many songs of praises were sung. At the end of a song I realised only my lips were singing, not my heart. I was so sorry that I could sing loudly and melodiously, without even remembering God throughout the song!
The Psalmist encourages all nations including Egypt and Ethiopia to sing to God (Ps 68:31-32). It is true that one day all nations will be bringing tribute to God. One day, every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. That is about the future; what about the present?
How am I singing to God? Would the Lord say, 'you honour me with your lips, but your heart is far from me'? (Is 29:13)
Sing, if your heart is involved; stop, if only your lips are singing.
Prayer: Lord, let me have a singing heart, rather than a singing mouth. Amen
Amen
