Sink in mire

B. A. Manakala

Deeper and deeper I sink into the mire; I can’t find a foothold. I am in deep water, and the floods overwhelm me. (Ps 69:2 nlt)

Mire is one of the most dangerous places to go through, especially, if you are alone and there is no one around to help. You would keep sinking despite all your efforts to escape!

We often sink in the floodwaters and mire in this world. Only God can save us from such miry clay (Ps 69:1-2). We cannot sink when God is holding our hands. But as long as we are living in the world we still have many things around that can sink us. We often run away from God and sink in the troubles of this world.

We are called to help others who are sinking in this world , and to do good to them. But if we ourselves are sinking in our own problems how could we help others?

Once you are in the mire, finding a foothold is almost impossible!

Prayer: Lord, let me never run away from you and run into troubles. Amen
